I LOVE FALL

HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THE FALL in Houston? Well, how could you not anywhere in the country? After the stifling heat that we have had the cooler temps are a welcome break. It is not even that cool during the day, but it is not 100 degrees. This was the first Fall weekend and we enjoyed it outside with the girls. We went to the park Friday evening (I forgot the camera) and we played outside tons on Sunday. I am looking forward to getting our back yard complete so we can play out there and be confined to the back yard. Two toddlers running in opposite directions makes for madness!! I think they will love all the play things we are going to get. The Fall always bring happy thoughts to me because October is our wedding month. Yes, wedding month, I celebrate months. I have a birthday month too. Love is in the air and it starts on Wednesday. For September these two little loves are the love of my life.

Hurricane Ike

WE, LIKE MANY OF YOU READING this blog, you are trying to get back to some normalcy after the terrifying hurricane came roaring thru on September 12th-13th. I have to say, that was the most frightening thing that I have gone thru living at this house. The winds were so strong. The sky was bright green. The roof was taken off of a motel right down the street. Thank God the girls slept right thru the whole thing. We had them in portacribs in our bathroom. Still too far for me. Chris was up all night long watching the TV, watching the eye come on shore. The power finally went out at 5:30am. I was happy that it did not go out any earlier than that, the house would have been a scorcher. The girls got up about 7, as usual. We fed them breakfast in our room. Then the winds calmed down enough for us to come out of the room, though they were still pretty strong. We had the battery powered TV. I recommend getting one, it was a life saver. Better than a radio. Chris said he got the TV when he was little, you can imagine what it looks like. Well, it is the perfect little TV for the girls to watch. They loved it. They watched the rain come down as Chris and I decided to get out of town as soon as we can. I called my sister and told her we will be on our way as soon as we can. She lives in San Antonio.






THE HEAT CAME ON PRETTY QUICK, the girls were a lot more comfortable in their diapers.





WE LEFT FOR SA about 12:30-1. It was still windy, but not too dangerous. I was pretty amazing driving thru the neighborhood seeing huge trees down. I am not aware of any going into any one's home, but some people did lose trees. Thankfully, there was no damage to our house. We had about a million pine cones, a few limbs, but nothing too serious. There was a top of a shed in out pool. The other half was in our neighbors yard. I don't know where it came from. The girls had fun in SA. They played with their cousins, Allison and CC. Cousin Jacob took them on a wagon ride.
WE ALSO WENT TO WALMART and got tables for the girls to color and eat and just play. They had fun with them. We took one table home for the girls to have. They love to point to all the princesses on the top and on the chairs.

WE ENDED UP STAYING IN SA FOR 4 DAYS. We got our power back on Wednesday. We were ready to get home and get back to regular life. Things are still not right, stores don't have everything you are used to them having. Something across the street may not have power yet. But, it is slowly getting back. As of today, more than a week after the storm , there are still more than a million people without power. CRAZY!!! Downtown has been closed all week. So crazy in such a big city. I am just glad that I know no one who lost any thing significant in the storm.

AS FOR THE GIRLS, there are getting back to normal. They start back at MDO tomorrow after having all of last week off. So, Flash Caroline and Catiebug will be back with their friends!

Hours of Fun

We have so many toys for the girls to play with, as you can imagine. It amazes me that we spend so much money on these things when all you need is a box. They girls played in my NEW DISHWASHER box for hours. They would giggle, and jibber jabber to each other. Of course Chris and I are left in the dark in that conversation. One would go around to the little hole on the bottom and look at the other and they would just giggle. It melts my heart to hear they giggles. Especially Caroline's, she has such a funny laugh. Cate would point to the opening of the box and say something to Caroline and Caroline would go and do it, what ever it was that Cate said. Of course we still have the box, it has been a month now. I am ready to through it out, it is just too big of a toy to have hanging around.

FOOTBALL TIME

We had a humidity free weekend this past weekend, just perfect to get you in the mood for football. We were not really football fans until I was on bed rest while I was pregnant. There wasn't much on TV to watch all day on Saturdays so Chris and I would watch football. Now we are so excited about the new season. We are more college football fans than pro. Our favorite team...NOTRE DAME. No, neither one of us went there, but we are still fans. Chris was a fan before me. I started to like them because he did. Now we are passing that along to the girls. Every year I get shirts for the girls to wear every Saturday. Chris wear his too, but sometimes he will take it off before we leave. He kinda feels funny about matching his daughters. I must say, I don't blame him. Opening game was last Saturday. Please put a W in your book, we are on our way. I know it wasn't a pretty win, but it is a WIN!!!! The girls put their hands up when you say touchdown, just like the refs!!!! I love saying it, they stop what ever they are doing and raise their hands. TOUCHDOWN!...oh they are in bed, maybe we will practice tomorrow. We have to get ready to the ND/Michigan game. A girl from Chris' office gave him ND beads for the girls to wear. The loved them. They played with them, wore them, shook them, cried for them . More bling for Saturday.

Mother's Day Out...For Me!!!

Well, the time has come that they go to MDO. I know that they are having so much fun. The first day Cate cried and did not want to stay. Caroline was just fine checking things out looking at all the new kids in the room. Some of my other friends who were dropping their kids off for the first time to MDO were upset and sad to leave their kids. Is there something wrong with me that I needed that time to get things done? I was not sad. I did miss them, but I was not sad. I knew they were having a blast, learning new things, meeting new people. Growing and learning, exciting stuff!!! They are going two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday. Thursday Cate was fine going in this time. I think she remembered...this is fun!!!!! I don't feel bad about putting them in MDO, I love staying at home with them, I would not change it for the world. I can't imaging bring them for someone else to take care of. They are my little miracles that are growing so fast and learning so many things. Talking is not one of them though. We are still taking their time with that. I think that today Caroline was asking "What is this?" to everything. At least that is what it sounded like to me. I think it may be coming soon for her. Cate will probably be right behind her. At least that is how walking was. I did not get good pictures of them on their first day. Things were a little crazy that morning but they sure looked cute... and I had a good time too getting some things done!
